Katie Hahn and DJ Hartigan met in 2012 while serving as AmeriCorps members in a public high school. There is some debate about who asked who out, but 8 years later, they married and began their journey to start a school. They each have over 10 years of experience working in public education. Prior to starting Kindle Education, Katie supported a portfolio of 17 schools to implement holistic student/family supports as part of the country’s largest community schools initiative. DJ led the school model development and academic intervention efforts for Great Oaks Charter Schools, including overseeing an AmeriCorps program that provided daily personalized tutoring and mentoring to over 2,200 students across nine schools. Both have an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education. Katie also holds an AB in Social Studies from Harvard University and an LMSW from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. DJ earned a BA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
